Love, Halston

sjpSarah Jessica Parker and I are birthday buddies.  Yep, both born on March 25th.   (The similarities pretty much stop there.)  I found this nugget of info when I was researching SJP for my “What The Chic” segment this week.

Turns out, SJP has unleashed a new line of “Carrie Bradshaw-inspired” dresses, courtesy of renowned designer Halston.  Halston, of course, has found inspiration in dressing several celebs through the years … everyone from Bianca Jagger to Liza Minnelli.  Now his new muse is SJP who he adores AND adorns in his latest clothing concoctions.  Well, he’d be foolish not to, for chrissake.  SJP has become known for parading around and showing off her savvy, often over-the-top sense of style.   Even straight guys will reluctantly acknowledge her character on “Sex and The City”.   “Yeah, she’s the one who’s never naked … ever!” said my oh-so hetero friend Ty.

Like Lady Gaga teaming up with Polaroid, SJP has partnered with Halston to design and create fashion-forward frocks.  Well, technically, he’s “re-purposed” popular styles from days gone by.  The line is called Halston Heritage … meaning what’s old is new again thanks to SJP.  Screw Dior.  Eff off De La Renta.

Halston is back, bitches, and his new-old line is debuting to dazzling word-of-mouth.

DSCN0315In my latest episode of “What The Chic” on KCTV5, I show off the styles with a quick little Q&A with my co-hostess with mostest Carolyn Long.  Carolyn’s inappropriate sense of humor rivals mine.  And while I was sucking down drinks right and left, Carolyn was always the consummate pro.  (You’ll note she’s not wearing flip-flops.  I am.  Busted.)  Watch the segment here:

Most of Halston’s haute couture goes for $2,000-$4,000 a pop, but SJP wised up and is selling her line of Halston Heritage at 1/10th the price.  Still too pricey for my blood, but no worries, Halston’s dresses always make me like roomy through the hips.
