My first Halls’ “What The Chic” segment on KCTV5 hit the airwaves yesterday. This means two things: 1) fame, fortune and a stalker can’t be far behind and 2) now that my jittery debut is over, I have to figure out a way to keep the momentum alive week after week. (Clink on the link below to watch my debut!)

Here’s some behind-the-scenes scoop you may not know. The Jones Pool (where the piece was shot) is a glam, new rooftop pool in downtown KC. It’s where all the beautiful people go to see and be seen. I was not one of those people. Not only was it 105 degrees on that roof, I was dripping sweat so profusely my co-host Carolyn asked me if I was having a heart attack. I chalked it up to nerves, impossibly hot models and the fact it was 105 freakin’ degrees.
The poor photographer Edwin wasn’t exactly thrilled at the prospect of shooting half-naked men most of the afternoon. I quickly reminded him that the following week would feature women’s swimwear … he quickly perked up after that. It’s like putting a carrot in front of a horse.
Typically, when you have four buff models in varying degrees of undress they try to out-do each other. I was afraid one of them would pee on Carolyn to mark their territory. But they were all affable, friendly and playful.
Halls, of course, supplied the clothing … including mine. It’s always fun to go and play dress up. Even more fun? Wearing something you’d never be caught dead in otherwise and still having the cajones to pull it off. Halls is forever trying to dress me in age-inappropriate clothing. 40 is NOT the new 20. And my size 36 waist is not a 32 no matter how many pairs of jeans I try on.
Comments on my debut have ranged from “superb” to “bliss” to “you’re talking to fast for me to understand”. Can’t wait to hear what sort of buzz is going on at the station. I’ll get back to you on that one.
